Ijaz Hassan

When did you start growing your beard? I always had some form of facial hair as far as I remember. But started to grow full grown beard in Nov 2015.

Why did you start growing one? I have been participating in Movember for best part of 12 years. In 2015 decided to grow full beard initially for 6 months period and 5 years later still going strong. Beard was for charity fund raising but developed into passion. My kids have not seen me without a beard, and I have no intention to shave or reduce length.

Who gives you beard-envy? Almost, every bloke I meet in public houses, offices or on streets. I get great degree of complements and often spend most evening chatting to other blokes about beards lol.

What charity are you raising money for and why? I have been part of McMillian charity for over 10 years and believe in their cause for helping people diagnosed with cancer. My mother was also diagnosed with cancer and received support from this charity so I’m quite passionate about them.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? Mostly Instagram but for last few months not been so active with social media.

When did you start growing your beard? This particular one was the start of lockdown in March… when I shaved the last one off!

Why did you start growing one? Because I shaved all my hair and beard off when lockdown first started, essentially to see what I looked like underneath(!)  as have worn a beard for years now. So technically this is really a replacement-beard!

Who gives you beard-envy? Jason Momoa in Aquaman; he has an epic beard game!

What charity are you raising money for and why? MIND, the national mental health charity, it just feels fitting given the year the UK has had!

Why did you start growing one? Shortly after some teenage girls shouted “George Doors” at me on the tube in around 2005

Who gives you beard-envy? Marcus Wareing

What charity are you raising money for and why? Macmillan – my family has been touched by cancer and the support we received from Macmillan was vital to us surviving a difficult time. Picked just ahead of any charity that puts wheels on dogs.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? Linkedin and Facebook, I’m not funny enough for Twitter and not good looking enough for Instagram

When did you start growing your beard? I have had facial hair for about eight years, although 4 Years ago in a competition with my Son we started growing long beards. Its’ been longer than in the photo and I do give it a good trim fortnightly.

Why did you start growing one? It started to become more fashionable. I thought I would give it a go and see how it goes. It shocked me when it grew!

Who gives you beard-envy? Not many but there are some cracking Beards out on the street that leaves mine in the dust.

What charity are you raising money for and why? My Dad has just passed away this month, he has been suffering from Dementia and it's a terrible pro-longed way to see your father die. The Charity I love to support is Dementia UK and their fight to prevent us all losing our mental capacity.

When did you start growing your beard? It all began when I was born. I naturally had hair growth from being an Indian. I never looked back since. This is actually the 4th beard from clean shaven since March. Luckily due to my roots it doesn't take long to grow

Why did you start growing one? My idol for beards is father Xmas. He has the winning beard and one day I will attempt to grow it as long as his. Gerrard butler in the movie 300 made me see as an adult it can be cool and sexy although I do lack his physique.

Who gives you beard-envy? Father Xmas

What charity are you raising money for and why? Cancer research. Close to my heart as have seen cancer destroy family and at present one of my dearest is battling to beat it.

Rhys Schofield - Lauren's LegacyRhys Schofield

When did you start growing your beard? I come from a long line of bearded Schofield’s and I’ve had my beard on and off since I was about 18 but I actually did go clean shaven last year for a day but this ended when I turned up to a family meal and I got compared to Peter Griffin from Family Guy. So safe to say, it is staying on permanently.

Why did you start growing one? Firstly, I like Vikings and I think they look cool and secondly, less Peter Griffin/Millhouse (my other not very affectionate family nickname) comparisons.

Who gives you beard-envy? The one and only, Santa Claus of course. His beard is awesome! But I don’t want to go that grey any time soon haha! I do like Nick Offerman’s beard as that’s quite cool and of course Ragnar from the Vikings, he’s great. Maybe also Mr Twit. Who wouldn’t want to carry a packed lunch on their face?

What charity are you raising money for and why? At Peak we raise money every month for a local charity called Lauren’s Legacy. Last month alone, we raised an amazing £570 pounds for them and we have been supporting them all year. They are absolutely incredible and help young people who are going through cancer treatments by granting wishes just to make things that little bit more tolerable. This could be as simple as raising money for a ticket to see a sporting game to even as big as a family holiday. They’re also trying to raise money to buy a holiday chalet for young people with cancer to go with their families to get away from it all for a bit. The work they do is amazing and it is in memory of Lauren, a truly amazing local girl who sadly lost her life to the horrible disease last year. We love supporting them so this money would definitely benefit the superb cause.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? Here at Peak Mortgages and Protection, we are VERY big on all things social media. Some of our content can be described as a bit ‘out there’ as a hashtag search of ‘#Peakamania’ will show you. You can find us on Facebook and Instagram on @peakmandp and I am on LinkedIn too.

When did you start growing your beard? 17th November 2017 after a particularly cold wind from 'The North'

Why did you start growing one? I was working nights in a frozen food coldstore warehouse at -24C waiting to get authorised to write business, as I was in the process of starting my own mortgage & protection brokerage, and my face was getting chapped. That and to look more handsome and beguiling...

Who gives you beard-envy? No one.... well maybe Dr John Beard of the Remington Beard University (google it).

What charity are you raising money for and why? Sherwood Forest Food Bank which is part of The Trussle Trust. The reason for selecting this charity is, it's local to Mansfield where I work, and given what has happened this year with COVID and all the consequences that have flowed from it, food banks are under immense pressure already. At this time of year coming up to Christmas, they will need more help than ever.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? I post the occasional video on my business Facebook page 'Shaw Financial Services' however in the event I win I may set up an OnlyFans page to display my facial topiary...

When did you start growing your beard? 2018, trying to grow it longer but when I have a few beers I trim it and accidentally take a chunk out and it’s back to growing again.

Why did you start growing one? A girl said I’d look better with one, and I’m bald – so with a clean shaven face I realised I looked like a new potato.

Who gives you beard-envy? Susan Boyle

When did you start growing your beard? About 5 years ago and at first it was just a sensible short beard and after about 2 years I decided to just “let it grow” (sung in the style of frozen)

Why did you start growing one? I am bald and wanted to change my look as freshly shaved face and head got a bit boring

Who gives you beard-envy? Action Bronson, Mesus, Brodnax and Big B (felons club) – you may need to google these 😊

When did you start growing your beard? I have had this particular growth for about 3 years now, but have had one for about 15!

Why did you start growing one? I think a girl must have said it was good or something. I also look like a child and command no respect without one (not that I get much with one either).

Who gives you beard-envy? My dog, Ted. It's just beautiful.

What charity are you raising money for and why? Mercy Hands Uganda - because my parents are ambassadors mostly, but also because it's a great cause! 100% of the funds go to the front line, building and running a school for children and vocational for adults, in an area of Uganda where they have almost nothing. Education will give people trades, a way of living, and build a community that can help itself in a sustainable way. Also, such a small amount of cash can go a long way - a teachers wage is like £50pm or something. We can / have / will change lives with relatively small donations.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? Barely on it to be honest! Linkedin is your best bet I'd say.

When did you start growing your beard? A couple of start points but always struggle to get past ‘the looking like a photo fit image’. However are persevering about middle of March

Why did you start growing one? What a good question, I’d reached the age of 54 without ever having the desire to have any form of facial hair, so I can only say that after a few occasions of leaving it for a few days I just went for it in the middle of lockdown with no barbers open and no idea of what do to with it or look after it.

Who gives you beard-envy? Any Middleton (SAS Who dares wins) or my Action Man (the one with the beard)

What charity are you raising money for and why? Alzheimers Research UK, I saw my Dad go through this awful illness for over 2 years

John Wain - Cancer Research UKJohn Wain

When did you start growing your beard? There’s been something fuzzy on my face since I started puberty, so since I was about 25.

Why did you start growing one? Without a beard I looked like a foetus and had never kissed a girl. I thought there had to be a better way and now I no longer look like a foetus. The other thing still hasn’t happened but I’m feeling good about 2021

Who gives you beard-envy? Anyone who can do that twirly moustache thing. Mine is so curly it points in any direction it fancies, styling it is not an option!

What charity are you raising money for and why? So this one is a bit close to home. I’m late replying to this as my father, John Wain Snr. passed away after a brave battle with lung cancer on Monday morning (23/11/20). As such I will be donating to Cancer Research UK. For anyone wondering, he too had a bit of facial fuzz, more goatee than beard.

Where can your beard fan’s follow you on social media? I’m not social media active enough but I have a Facebook and a LinkedIn page so I’ll make a point of adding some beard shots over the next few days
